I am Dr. Kalvis Pastars, a dedicated plastic surgeon, microsurgeon, and hand surgeon with a passion for transforming lives. With over 25 years in the field, I have had the privilege of leading the Latvian Microsurgery Centre and pioneering advanced surgical techniques that have set new standards in patient care.

My journey began in the realm of hand surgery and reconstructive microsurgery, enriched by fellowships at the Mayo Clinic in the USA, the National University Hospital in Singapore, and leading European clinics. These experiences equipped me with cutting-edge skills and a profound understanding of microsurgical techniques, fueling my ambition and success as a surgeon.

In partnership with Dr. Juris Tārs and our exceptional team at the Latvian Oncology Centre, I had the honor of developing head and neck reconstructive microsurgery in Latvia. We performed groundbreaking surgeries that provided new hope for patients once deemed untreatable. Our efforts expanded to onco-reconstructive surgeries for gynecological, breast cancer, and sarcoma patients, culminating in the LAB Annual Award for "Medical Event of the Year" in 2019.

In 2018, I was humbled to receive the Ministry of Health's highest honor for my contributions to public health. This recognition celebrated our establishment of the maxillofacial reconstructive oncology program and my commitment to nurturing the skills of young doctors.

One of my proudest achievements came in 2022 when, in collaboration with women's organizations, we successfully reinstated the state-funded breast reconstruction program. This initiative ensures that women diagnosed with breast cancer can access state-funded reconstructive surgery, empowering them to reclaim their lives with confidence and dignity.

As an educator, I find immense joy in teaching the next generation of medical professionals at Riga Stradins University. My passion for research has led to over 60 scientific publications, advancing our understanding and practice of medicine.

Currently, my focus is on aesthetic surgery, specializing in the breast, abdomen, and eyelids. My mission is to help you regain not only your health but also your beauty and joy of life, giving you the confidence to live fully and vibrantly.
